what is the healthy homes fair?
The Healthy Homes Fair is a free expo and interactive experience for homeowners, renters, home renovation professionals and career seekers to learn about the products and services needed to improve our health, increase comfort, and reduce emissions from the homes of the DC region.
Where will it take place and how do I get there?
The Healthy Homes Fair will take place at the DC Armory, at 2001 E Capitol St SE, Washington, DC 20003. The DC Armory is a 70,000 feet exhibition space with sufficient power to plug in all the fabulous electric machines we want to show off. It is easily accessible by public transport (Metro Stadium Armory on the blue and orange lines), and has 8,000 parking spots for the professionals coming from across the DMV who are not comfortable moving without their tools;-)
When will the healthy homes fair happen?
The inaugural edition of the Healthy Homes Fair will open its doors on Saturday April 6, 2024 from 1pm to 5pm. Given the amount of community engagement, education and workforce development needed around decarbonizing our homes, we expect the Healthy Homes Fair to be a yearly event.
What will happen at the healthy homes fair?
We are planning a full day of training, multilingual workshops, cooking demonstrations, fun activities for children of all ages, and an appliance “petting zoo” to educate homeowners, renters, and workforce about the science, technology, incentives and careers available to decarbonize the homes of the District and meet our Climate Commitments. How big is the Healthy Homes Fair?
While we do not have numbers from previous editions to go by, we anticipate 50+ exhibitors and 1000+ attendees ranging from homeowners, renters, home renovation professionals and career seekers. Who runs Healthy Homes?
The Healthy Homes Fair is run by Electrify DC, a leading nonprofit dedicated to making it easier, faster and more affordable to decarbonize our homes, in partnership with the DC Department of Energy and Environment, the DC Department of Buildings and local, regional, and national organizations working to eliminate emissions from our buildings.
